Trailing

a music film about trails, paths, roads and tracks

Trailing is a film currently in production that studies movement and the traces left by movement. It follows animal and human tracks around the world, gazing firmly ahead at the winding ways but also taking a look at what our progress has left behind. It is a dialogue between music and image, in its simple form. All actors are wild animals, and there is no dialogue, nor traditional narration. Still, it aims to capture its audience in its own way. As like the topic of the film, the style of the film is exploratory in nature: inspiration stems form cinematic forefathers such as Koyaanisqatsi (dir. Godfrey Reggio, mus. Philip Glass).

Now in post production

The filmmaking process is a solitary pilgrimage into making one total work of art all by myself. After three years of filming, the exciting post production phase has begun. So far, footage as been accumulated along the way from Japan, Finland, Romania, Oman, Lebanon, Hong Kong and the UK.

Music

Music combines unique assembly of instruments – such as dizi, kantele, setar and a string quartet– with an electronic track that together create my own orchestra. The score can be played with string quartet and electronics live with the film, as my mission is to close the gap between cinema and concert venues.
